Leading the Way Magazine invites submissions from our Diné readers to be published in an upcoming issue of the magazine, and/or on our website. For over twenty years, Leading the Way Magazine has been a Navajo cultural publication that focuses on Navajo culture and identity. Since January 2025, we have come under new management and we now feature an all Diné staff.
This year, we would like to see more engagement with our readers, and we invite interested Diné photographers and Diné storytellers to submit pieces that embody the beauty and cultural knowledge of nihikéyah (our homeland).
How is the beauty of nihikéyah envisioned through your perspective? What are some places that are important to you? What kinds of stories does nihikéyah tell? Please transport our readers with you across the far corners of nihikéyah and introduce us to the beauty of Navajo through your unique perspective.
What are some Diné cultural teachings/cultural knowledge that you’re knowledgeable in? What are some family stories that you’ve inherited? What are some stories about specific places? What are some community histories you’ve learned? What are some Diné cultural teachings around specific words or phrases? We want to read and share your stories that deal directly with Diné cultural knowledge.
