As we settle down with our festive holidays, we start a new year. Now that 2024 has come and gone we begin 2025. In the Navajo tradition, our new year starts in October also known as Gháájí’, when weather changes, we prepare for colder nights, certain ceremonies, songs, and dances are practiced only in the wintertime. However, in the white man way we still acknowledge the Gregorian calendar. Just as we practice then we should continue the same thoughts and prayers for this time around. As we start the new year off, we would often set resolutions in, like a healthy lifestyle, eating, exercising, or taking on new hobbies. Maybe changing the way, you dress or having a different insight into life. The new year will always bring change, but to us Navajo we shall always walk in beauty, peace, and harmony…
